"Dear Susan, Thanks so much for the great massage today. I always feel so much better after a session with you.
You are one of the best massage therapists I have been to in the twenty-five years of going for
massage! Having a massage is my way of hitting the RESET button for not only my body, but also for
my mind and spirit. Massage not only clears toxins and physical discomfort, my body gets important
attention and positive acknowledg- ment for all the great things it does for me on a minute to minute,
day to day basis. Massage is my gift to myself. It is not something I do as an indulgence, massage is
a necessity to care for and nurture that body, mind and spirit connection. Thanks for your healing
ways and your very positive energy."

Susan has been practicing Massage Therapy full-time for nine years, and has been practicing for the last five years at Soul Source Yoga in Swarthmore. She has just relocated her office to a beautiful, quiet spot in the heart of downtown Swarthmore and it is the perfect space for healing and rejuvenating both your body and spirit. Susan has extensive training
in several massage modalities and her sessions may include any of the following techniques:
Swedish - also called "Relaxation" massage. Incorporates long, gliding strokes and shorter
kneading strokes to increase blood flow, relax the muscles, and help flush out toxins.
Deep Tissue - a general term for massage that goes beyond the superficial layers of muscle. Good
for areas of past injury to help break up scar tissue and is especially effective at releasing those
stress-carrying muscles. More specific techniques include:
|
|
Trigger Point - just what it sounds like: very specific, deep work on tiny areas of hyper-tense and
often hypersensitive muscle tissue.
Myofascial Release - a very effective technique that provides slow, sustained pressure into
myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Fascia is the connective tissue that
surrounds every muscle and organ in the body.
Sports Massage - uses range of motion to keep joints open, specific stretches to elongate tightened
muscles, and focused work to areas of overuse in order to facilitate recovery and enhance performance.
|
|
Thai Massage/Shiatsu Combo - these energy-balancing modalities involve a series of yoga-like
stretches and rhythmic pressure-point work using the therapist's palms, thumbs, elbows, knees and
feet. This unique bodywork experience is done on a floor mat with the client wearing loose,
comfortable clothing. It's extremely relaxing yet incredibly energizing and great for clients
who are happier leaving their clothes on!
